Rehabilitation Services

Our Rehabilitation Services department hosts Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy and Sports Medicine. Our staff provides services to patients in the hospital and in an outpatient setting at The Center for Wellness and Rehabilitation. Our experienced and knowledgeable staff is dedicated to improve and restore function to patients that have lost after an illness or injury, patients following a surgery, or prevent and slow further deterioration of a patient’s decline. We deliver the highest level of quality care and evidence based practice treatment to all populations, from birth to oldest of age.

Our staff provides one-on-one patient care which means patients will be with a therapist every session. We feel it is with this type of attention and consistency that we can best monitor your progress and change your program in a specific and timely manner.

Rehabilitation Services utilizes three distinct disciplines to address your physical or cognitive impairment which include physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy.

Physical Therapy

Physical therapists are movement experts who improve quality of life through hands-on care, patient education and prescribed movement. Our staff provides evidence based practice to patients of all ages to allow patients to regain their strength, mobility, decrease pain and restore their independence.

Our Physical Therapy team is qualified to treat patients with orthopedic, neurological, musculoskeletal and pain-related disorders. Our therapists strive to stay on the cutting edge of new treatment techniques through outcome measures and evidence-based practice.

Each patient who is referred to Physical Therapy receives a comprehensive evaluation performed by a highly skilled, licensed physical therapist, who will then devise a treatment plan based on findings and in concurrence with the referring physician’s recommendations.

Speech Therapy

Our Speech Therapy department provides the highest quality of care and cutting-edge treatments to assist patients in all areas of communication and swallowing. Speech Therapy services are provided to patients of all ages with either developmental or acquired speech, language or swallowing disorders. Our dedicated speech-language pathologists can assist patients with an array of disorders associated with stroke, traumatic brain injury, cerebral palsy, dyslexia, autism and ADD/ADHD.

We provide advanced sound therapy to aid patients in all areas of communication. This therapy has been shown to improve attention, concentration, memory and language.

Our speech pathologists also perform swallow studies at Henry County Medical Center. We provide Vital Stim therapy for swallowing deficits. This therapy has been proven to help patients of any age or disorder regain swallow function. It is the goal of our speech-language pathologists to ensure that patients achieve their maximum potential in terms of communication and swallowing regardless of age.

Occupational Therapy

Our Occupational Therapy department provides excellent care to patients with conditions preventing them from participation in occupations ranging from self care, work, school, leisure, and community activities. They provide services to address fine motor skills, upper extremity pain and stiffness, weakness, decreased independence with self care tasks, and provide patient/caregiver education and instruction in home exercise programs to address each patient’s unique needs to promote faster recovery and return to meaningful activities. Our occupational therapy team can treat orthopedic injuries such as rotator cuff tear, other upper extremity injuries including carpal tunnel syndrome, arthritis, and peripheral nerve injuries, and are also qualified to treat patients with neurological disorders. Our OT team also serves the pediatric population.

Upon a patient’s referral to Occupational Therapy, our licensed occupational therapist will perform a thorough evaluation and then, in accordance with the referring physician’s recommendations, formulate a plan of care to best suit the patient’s unique needs.

It is the goal of our highly skilled occupational therapists to provide the interventions and adaptations necessary to assist patients in achieving independence in their daily activities. Occupational Therapists are experts in modifying areas in homes, and adapting situations and suggesting equipment for patients that require extra assist in a specific area.
