    It’s All About You in 2022 – Mental Health Matters

    Mental Health Matters is the focus of our It's All About You in 2022 seminar series this month.
    Tune in to our Facebook video for Mental Health Month to learn tips for dealing with your daily stress. A pre-recorded video with Melissa Dye, LCSW with Paris Behavioral Health will launch at 12 Noon on Sunday, May 22, providing you with tips and resources to help deal with daily stress and mental health.

    Junior Volunteer Summer Program Informational Meeting
    5:00pm - 6:00pm
    It's time for the HCMC Junior Volunteer Summer Program! Spend your summer volunteering and learning about the healthcare profession! Students must be ages 14 and up with a "C" average or better to participate. Students and a parent MUST attend one of the two mandatory meetings in order to qualify for the program. Volunteer positions will be limited. Students will be required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination or apply for an exemption, complete a TB Skin Test, as well as attend orientation. The program will take place from June 6, 2022 until July 29, 2022. *Contingent on COVID-19 surges. Mandatory Parent and Student Informational Meetings will be held Monday, May 23 and Tuesday, May 24 at 5 p.m. in HCMC Classrooms 2 & 3. Student and a parent MUST attend ONE of these meetings.     Before joint replacement surgery at HCMC, join the Orthopedic Center for Wellness staff for an informative session on total joint replacement. You & Your Family Will Learn:

    • Recovery Tips & Going Home
    • Rehabilitation (Inpatient/Outpatient/Home Health)
    .  We begin with pharmacy review at 12:30 p.m. then have PowerPoint presentation in class from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. The class is free, and for more information call Nicole at 731-641-2720. If you are scheduled for joint replacement surgery, this class is mandatory. If you are not scheduled for surgery and would like to learn more about attending, call for more information.

    Chronic Disease Management Screening
    7:00am - 11:00am
    Our Chronic Disease Management Program offers free screenings including total lipid panel, blood sugar, blood pressure, BMI  and A1c.  If a person has a chronic condition , smokes or is overweight, they can join the program for free. Participants are screened every three months and receive education about their chronic conditions. All patients must be fasting for 8 hours to participate in the screening. Screenings will be done by appointment only to provide social distancing. Masks are required. Screening will be held at HCMC Classrooms 2 & 3 For more information on these screenings, to make an appointment, or to join our Chronic Disease Management program, call 731-644-8215 or email tumstead@hcmc-tn.org.

    Lifeline Blood Drive at HCMC
    9:00am - 4:00pm
    Lifeline Blood Drive Wednesday, May 25th 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. HCMC will host a Lifeline blood drive on Wednesday, May 25. Times are 9 am – 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 pm – 4 pm. Please make plans to help out with this blood drive. All donors will receive a free t-shirt! Those giving blood will not be entering HCMC, but can access the Lifeline Bloodmobile off the HCMC Cafeteria Patio.  All registration will occur at the Bloodmobile.

    Bright Beginnings Breastfeeding Support Group
    10:00am - 11:00am
    Breastfeeding is hard work and Henry County Medical Center’s Bright Beginnings Program wants to provide education and support to its mothers. Join our weekly support group for expecting moms and new moms who are interested in breastfeeding or who are currently breastfeeding newborn babies or babies up to one year of age. Our goal is for you and your baby to be successful at breastfeeding. Every Wednesday at 10 a.m. (meetings will last approximately one hour) HCMC Women's Center Training Room Provided by Angie Natero, RN, IBCLC. HCMC Women’s Center Board Certified Lactation Consultant Each session will focus on a specific topic related to breastfeeding, but topics will be open to the needs of the participants and questions are welcome. Each class is FREE to moms who have delivered at HCMC within the last year or who are currently expecting and scheduled to deliver at HCMC. There will be a $10 charge per class for other participants. For more information, call (731) 644-8521 and leave a message and a nurse will return your call.

    Bright Beginnings Prenatal Class
    1:00pm - 5:00pm
    Preparing for your new bundle of joy is important and HCMC wants to give you a head start by offering free childbirth classes that offer tips on breathing, relaxation and anesthesia options.  Classes are offered on Saturdays and all expectant parents are encouraged to attend sometime after 20 weeks. The HCMC Women's Center is excited to provide these "Mommy Style" classes that will cover the following:
    • Who is going to be here with me?
    • Is what I'm feeling normal?
    • How do I know if I’m in Labor?
    • What should I expect when I am admitted?
    • What are my pain control options?
    • What if I have to have a cesarean section?
    • How do I breathe during contractions?
    • Where will I be when I have this baby?mommy
    • How can I relax?
    • Can we practice that breathing?
    You can call the Find Line at 731-644-3463 for more information. To register, call Rhonda Crossett, Women's Center Director at 731-644-8521. Class will be held in HCMC Classrooms 2 & 3. Class space is limited so call today!
