Paris, TN – Pharmacy Director Paula Bell was recently presented with the Loyal Patriot Award by Henry County Mayor John Penn Ridgeway for her service to the hospital and the community during the COVID-19 pandemic.  The Loyal Patriot Award is the highest award that can be bestowed on a Henry County citizen.

Mayor Ridgeway attended a HCMC Department Directors’ meeting last week where he shared with the management staff his appreciation for their efforts over the last two years during the COVID-19 pandemic, a very difficult and demanding time in healthcare.  He especially wanted to present Bell with the award because she stood up for the community and its health regardless of the negativity surrounding vaccination and masking.

“I have known Paula for many, many years,” said Mayor Ridgeway.  “She is a fierce competitor and is never scared of taking it on the chin for what’s right.  She has been here for the community and HCMC and she truly is a patriot.”

“It is truly an honor to receive this award and means so much,” said Bell.

Bell along with her husband Jon are both from Paris.  Bell received her Bachelor of Science in Biology at the University of Alabama, where she played golf for four years.  She went to pharmacy school at the University of TN Health Science Center in Memphis.  Bell has worked at HCMC for almost eight years after living in Memphis for 13 years.

Bell enjoys being outdoors, spending time with family, playing outside with the kids whether it is basketball, riding bikes, baseball, softball, or golf.
