May Stars Announced

Paris, TN – Henry County Medical Center is pleased to announce that the Partner of the Month of May in the Stars of Excellence Program is Jordan Shepard, Food and Nutrition. Four others were named Star Partners in the program.

Shepard was nominated by her manager for the “caring” and “patient centered care” she provides her patients. Examples of her care are regularly told in the numerous TOPS grams, “Dear Tom” letters, and Press Ganey comments we receive about how wonderful she was. Just two recent examples are when Shepard was trying to get a very sick patient to eat, she joked that she would bring anything, including a Sonic chocolate milkshake. The patient joked back that it would have to be pineapple for her to drink it. She spent her own lunch break that day to drive to Sonic to buy that patient a pineapple milkshake. The patient and family appreciated it beyond words – even posting to Facebook how wonderful she and HCMC had been. Another recent example was when a patient asked her why HCMC didn’t offer a certain kind of peas on the menu. She politely explained and apologized, then went to the grocery that night to personally purchase those peas. She asked the kitchen to prepare them for that patient the next day. There are numerous other examples of how Shepard continuously goes “above and beyond” for her patients and they love her for it.

HCMC also awards Star partners each month. The Star Partners for May are Denise Brogdon, Home Health & Hospice; Caleb Griffin, Center for Wellness & Rehab; Brandon Steele, Surgery; and Heather Chilcutt, Surgery. They were nominated for the following:

  • Brogdon was nominated by another manager for the care and compassion she showed by helping a partner and her family with her grandmother’s transition into hospice. She personally went to another hospital and helped the family coordinate care very responsively.
  • Griffin was nominated by another partner for his help at Inman football games as well as with any patients at the Center for Wellness and Rehab without complaint and always with a smile.
  • Steele was nominated by his manager for his willingness to fill in for another partner and take on stocking supplies in surgery while she was out.
  • Chilcutt was nominated by her manager for her willingness to fill in for another partner and take on stocking supplies in surgery while she was out along with the other jobs she does. She was also recognized for her cross training and ability to take on various roles.
