Paris, TN – Henry County Medical Center joined in the Henry County Random Acts of Kindness Challenge during the week of January 27 – February 2 with both a challenge for employees as well as community initiatives.

The Great Kindness Challenge is a one week challenge devoted to performing as many acts of kindness as possible to help show the world that Kindness Matters.  It is held annually in schools and throughout communities across the nation and began by a former elementary school teacher.

Henry County Medical Center’s Food and Nutrition Department embraced the idea and developed a contest for partners to enter to win prizes during the week.  Each partner could leave a short note of their kind act each day for daily drawings of free food and coffee.  On Feb. 1, a grand prize winner was selected and won a charcoal grill donated by Coke along with a bag of charcoal and a couple of steaks to cook on the grill.

“HCMC Nutrition staff had a great time promoting kindness activities all week,” said Denisa Cate, Director of HCMC Food & Nutrition.  “Every day we saw many great examples of kindness.  Thanks to Coca Cola for our grand prize donation.  Our hope is that these random acts of kindness will continue throughout the entire year and show that kindness is contagious.”

Additionally, the Community Strategic Planning Committee decided to participate by doing a couple of random acts of kindness in the community which included providing breakfast to the Fire Station across from HCMC one day as well as distributing HCMC wireless cellphone chargers to the staff and faculty at Inman Middle School, our Partner in Education.

HCMC got the idea to participate in the program thanks to Henry County School System and the Henry County Health Council.
