HCMC Recognizes Breast Cancer Awareness During October and November

Paris, TN – October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Henry County Medical Center is encouraging women to get screened regularly.  Let’s face it, the past two years have been hard, but it’s a new day and it’s our time to refocus on our health.

“Many of us have delayed life-saving screenings like mammograms during the COVID-19 pandemic, which is understandable. But after 19 months, it’s so important to get back on track with regular breast cancer screenings,” said Courtney Flowers, Director of Imaging Services at HCMC. “Mammograms are our best resource to detect breast cancer early, finding cancers too small to feel with self-examination of the breasts.”

As an ACR accredited mammography center, we follow ACR and MQSA guidelines that recommend a yearly mammogram after the age of 40.  https://www.acr.org/-/media/ACR/Files/Breast-Imaging-Resources/Care-Toolkit/Should-I-Get-a-Mammogram-Now.pdf .

If you have not scheduled your yearly mammogram, give yourself grace and call your provider today to be referred to the HCMC Diagnostic Center.  During October and November, those having a mammogram will receive a free gift!

Plus, on Thursday, October 27 and Thursday, November 3, HCMC Diagnostic Center will be providing a grab and go treat for those having a mammogram that day.  On Friday, October 28 and Friday, November 4, HCMC Diagnostic Center is asking everyone to dress in pink for Pink Out Fridays and take their photo posting to their social media with the hashtag #HCMCPinkOutFriday.  Prizes will be awarded to the best #HCMCPinkOutFriday photo each week.  You can tag HCMC, too.  Or send your photos for upload to our social pages to tdaughrity@hcmc-tn.org.

Also, on Monday, October 31, HCMC Diagnostic Center will be providing a drive thru for the community at the HCMC Diagnostic Center from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a #BooPinkTreat and educational information.  Be sure to stop by and grab yours while supplies last.
