PARIS, TN –Henry County Medical Center’s Center for Wellness and Rehabilitation is proud to celebrate the professional commitment to help improve the health and wellness of the patients in our community.  Founded by American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), National Physical Therapy Month is observed each October. Each year, a local organization is chosen by the staff as their service project for the month. During October, the therapy staff members competed in a “Penny War” to raise money for their service organization, Darkhorse Lodge, located in Henry County!

Past and present patients were invited to attend a patient appreciation cookout on Friday, October 25. Approximately 100 guests and staff attended where a check for over $1,000 was presented to Darkhorse Lodge. Darkhorse Lodge is a non-profit organization located in Henry County. Darkhorse Lodge is a retreat for combat veterans of all branches of service to come to relax and fish on Kentucky Lake, enjoy area activities and communicate with others who have walked in their boots. All offered at no cost to guests.

“We were contacted at the beginning of the month to notify us that we were chosen as the recipient of funds collected at the Center for Wellness and Rehabilitation here in Paris,” said Gretchen Catherwood, Owner and Operator of Darkhorse Lodge. “We are so grateful for the appreciation and support that the staff and their patients have shown our organization. Thank you all so very much! This will go a long way at Darkhorse Lodge.”

During the week of October 21-25, the Center for Wellness and Rehab also participated in themed dress up days to celebrate and bring awareness to their cause.  Many of the week’s photos are on our social media outlets.
