Paris, TN – Ashley Cary, new mother to Ember, was the first baby to be born in June at Henry County Medical Center. Since 1939, June has been celebrated as National Dairy Month. Tennessee is home to 205 dairy farms and 8 are right here in Henry County. Henry County dairy farmers have started a new initiative: to donate a dairy-themed gift basket to the first baby born in June.

Two baskets were presented to the family by dairy farmer representatives, Angie Leach and Sarah Moss. One basket featured Prairie Farms dairy-based products including milk, cheese, butter, ice cream, and yogurt. The second basket featured cow-themed baby gear including a cow teether, cow-themed books, and a “Got Milk?” onesie.

“We want people to drink and eat dairy in celebration of Dairy Month,” says Moss as the basket was presented to the family.

Henry County’s dairy farmers and the Dairy Alliance came together to create the donated baskets. Donations were made by the following farmers: Mike & Kathy Stiles, Fox Gap Farm; David, Angie, Ben, Jacob, and Kimberly Leach, Wet-Meadows Farm; Paul, Sarah, Will, Laura, and Elizabeth Moss, Tri-Springs Jerseys; Chelsea, Carol, and Veronica Steer, Sunbow Jerseys; Mike, Betsy, and Elizabeth Sumners, Tri-Hope Farm; Daniel and Christine Miller and Family; Milan and Grace Wagler; and Brandon and Pamela Trout and Family, Trout Dairy Farm.
