April is Donate Life Month and to kick off the month recognition, HCMC is hosting Tennessee Donor Services to discuss the importance of organ donation and how the process works. To help share the message, Cindy Vaughn, an Organ Recipient and Donate Life Ambassador will be giving her testimony about the importance of organ donation. Cindy Vaughn is a Memphis native currently make her home in Jackson. She is a heart transplant recipient and a 19-year SCAD heart survivor. Two weeks after giving birth to her third child, Cindy had a heart attack. Her heart function quickly declined and the years following were spent in and out of the hospital. She was told she needed of a heart transplant and was listed in December 2016 and received her gift in January 2017. Cindy has devoted her life to honoring her donor by sharing her journey with the community and how the gift of her donor saved her life. She has been a Woman Heart Champion since 2005. She is a strong advocate for women’s heart issues and brings awareness of the need for organ donation and the importance of the donor registry.
