Paris, TN – The Caring Hearts Fund of Paris and Henry County Healthcare Foundation and the Cancer Care Center of Henry County are gearing up for the second annual “Chairs That Care” Auction and Social.  With the success of last year’s auction far exceeding expectations, this year’s auction is already shaping up to be bigger and better.

“Before last year’s auction we had a goal of about 30 chairs because we didn’t know what to expect,” said Casey Brown, Caring Hearts Fund Liaison and Cancer Care Center employee.  “We ended up with over 70 chairs and raising over $3,600.  We have set this year’s goal for over 100 chairs and are well on our way to meeting that goal.”

This year’s Auction and Social will be held on Saturday, August 3 at the Paris Winery, with events starting at 4 p.m. and concluding around 7 p.m.  Tickets for the event are $10 and include a free wine tasting, drinks and Hor d’oeuvres, musical entertainment by Trifekta featuring Mark McWherter, Tabitha Myrick and Jim Merrell, along with the silent and live auction of the donated chairs made by community members.  Tickets can be purchased at the Cancer Care Center of Henry County, the HCMC Pink Petal Gift Shop and My Favorite Things.

“Chairs that Care” came about as a way to raise funds for the Caring Hearts Fund of the Paris and Henry County Healthcare Foundation.  Local artists and supporters can create one-of-a-kind chair masterpieces to be auctioned off in the silent auction and live auction.  This fund assists patients with a financial need to pay for medications, transportation, premiums and co-pays while having treatment in Henry County at either the Cancer Care Center of HCMC Outpatient Chemotherapy.

“The money brought in by this auction stays right here in Henry County,” Brown said.  “To be able to help people that need a way to get to treatment or to pay for prescriptions or even to pay for co-payments or premiums so that treatment can be gotten…that is what this project is really all about.”

Individual chairs will be on display at various locations prior to the live and silent auction event as well as available for viewing on the HCMC website: www.hcmc-tn.org.  Completed chairs can be dropped off at the Cancer Care Center weekdays from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.
